The Role
The role of the Medical Advisor is to provide expert medical support to all aspects of the local business, to ultimately enhance the customers’ experience in interacting with the company. In an effort to fully understand external opinions, issues, and new science in the areas in which Lilly operates, the Medical Advisor gathers and communicates scientific intelligence and clinical insights identified through their interactions with Scientific Experts and other Health Care Providers, Scientific Exchange Meetings, their attendance at medical conferences, and through other appropriate means to better inform Lilly’s strategic direction for research and commercialization. This includes local marketed product support (participate in the development of the “patient journey” and the strategic plan for the compound), medical support for regulatory affairs and interactions with government agencies (medical support for New and Supplemental New Drug Submissions and participating and presenting at meetings with government regulatory agencies), medical support for pricing, reimbursement and access (PRA) (providing medical guidance on the PRA plan and interacting with government PRA agencies as needed), and leading in local scientific data dissemination (leading and presenting at conferences, advisory boards, etc., and overseeing the development of the scientific content of educational programs).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to developing medical strategies to support brand commercialization activities by working closely with – global Medical Affairs, Marketing, Clinical Development, Patient Outcomes, Market access and Real-World Evidence teams.
  • Represent the clinical needs of the country/region to the business unit medical leadership in the development of clinical strategies, development plans and study protocol design.
  • Collaborating with clinical research staff in designing, conducting and reporting local clinical trials. Review Investigator Initiated research proposals.
  • Gathering and communicating scientific intelligence and clinical insights identified through interactions with Scientific Experts and other Health Care Providers (via Exchange meetings and medical conferences).
  • Knowledge of and compliance with local laws and regulations, and global policies and compliance guidelines with respect to data dissemination and interactions with external health care professionals.
  • Understanding and actively address the unsolicited scientific information needs of external health care professionals according to guidelines.
  • Support the planning of symposia, advisory board meetings, and/or the facilitation of other meetings with healthcare professionals.
  • Establishing and maintain appropriate collaborations and relationships with external scientific experts, thought leaders, and the general medical community (Local and International)
  • Medical support for Regulatory Affairs and interactions with government agencies
  • Supporting medical information associates in preparation and review of medical letters and other medical information materials. Support training of local medical personnel, including medical and/or outcome liaisons, sales representatives and health outcomes staff.
  • Require in-depth knowledge of dermatology, rheumatology and/or gastroenterology through in-depth understanding of global research, real-world evidence, and a full understanding of the current needs and emerging of the Lilly immunology portfolio.


  • Medical Doctor with clinical experience in the area of dermatology, rheumatology, and/or gastroenterology is preferable. Pharmaceutical medicine experience is also preferable – OR
  • An advanced health/medical/scientific or related graduate degree such as DVM, PharmD, PhD, MSN with advanced clinical knowledge (eg. clinical nurse specialist/nurse practitioner)

AND one of the following.

  • At least three (3) years of research experience in immunology as therapy area (dermatology, rheumatology and/or gastroenterology)


  • At least three (3) years of pharmaceutical experience in immunology as therapy area (dermatology, rheumatology and/or gastroenterology)
  • Must have completed education and training at a medical school that meets the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) requirements
  • Knowledge of the drug development process and demonstrated success in balancing scientific and business needs.
  • Demonstrated strong communication (Norwegian and English – written and spoken), interpersonal and negotiation skills

This role will require domestic and international travel to the degree appropriate to support the team's business.
